Hydrolysates

Hydrolysates are proteins that are broken down into smaller peptide fragments or amino acids, used for the dietary management of cow’s milk allergy (CMA) or feeding intolerances that could lead to digestive discomfort. These ingredients can be produced as mild, partial and extensive hydrolysates, which differ in the degree of hydrolysis and therefore peptide length. Mildly hydrolysed whey protein could be used in infant milk formula with a digestive comfort proposition. Extensive hydrolysates could be used in CMA or hypo-allergenic (HA) formulations, whereas partial hydrolysates could be used in HA formulas or digestive comfort propositions.

  • What are hydrolysates?

Hydrolysates are protein ingredients where the protein has been digested via enzymatic processing into smaller peptides and/or amino acids. Infant milk formula containing hydrolysates could be more easily tolerated by children suffering from feeding intolerances that could lead to digestive discomfort. For children that are cow’s milk allergic, extensive hydrolysates could be used to avoid adverse reactions to the culprit allergen.

  • What are the health benefits of hydrolysates?

Hydrolysates may facilitate easier digestion compared to intact protein and may support the immature digestive system. Our Hyvital® CMA ingredients for infant formula can be used for the dietary management of CMA due to the absence of intact protein that could be recognized as harmful by the immune system.

  • What are the processing benefits of hydrolysates?

With the products in our Hyvital® range, we offer a large variety of high-quality hydrolysates, including hydrolysates which can be applied in dry-blend, halal or kosher formulations. Our Hyvital® Whey EtD 100 Organic is USDA-organic certified.
