This new distribution centre enables more efficient and sustainable storage of products in a conditioned environment. First of all, the required number of warehouses was reduced from 9 to 3. Additionally, the building is located near production locations of FrieslandCampina, the highway A50 and inland container terminal Veghel. This enables FrieslandCampina to significantly reduce CO2 emissions and to optimize distribution in a sustainable and responsible manner.
The warehouse was built on behalf of Next Level Development by the construction company Van de Ven based in Veghel. The building is gas-free and therefore all-electric. Besides, it was built in accordance with the BREEAM ‘Very Good’ sustainability standard. Logistics service provider Willems Logistic Services will be responsible for all warehouse activities in the new distribution centre for FrieslandCampina.
“In these current times of crisis, quite a few unforeseen extra challenges came our way. Therefore, we are very proud to have delivered the new distribution centre within the set timelines, in accordance with the rules surrounding the corona virus. We would like to thank all teams and stakeholders involved for their dedication and perseverance ”, says Han Kampman, Director Plan & Deliver Ingredients. “The centre is important for FrieslandCampina and the surrounding area. Through sustainable construction and more efficient transport, it makes an important contribution to the reduction of CO2 emissions. And this contributes to our ambition to achieve climate neutral growth and to lead with sustainability.”
